Everything you could ever want to know about 2011. This is really fun to look through.
We all know someone who is a schmoozer and knows someone or something before they got “big.” We’re all name droppers in one way or the other. It makes you feel important that your second cousin’s sister in law once dated ol’ So and So. We shrug. No big deal…
Well I just want to name drop before anyone else can. This is my friend Bre:

Among many things, she is a gregarious, thoughtful, energetic mother of a 2 year old. She is newly married and a long-distance friend of mine. I met her when I was in highschool (she went to my rivaling highschool, but, like they always do, an Asian buffet brought us together). We were acquaintances in highschool, but a few years ago we connected again through her blog and then became pen pals.
Yada yada yada. I just want to let you all know about my beautiful friend Bre because I think this is your chance to get to know someone before her fame.
Bre is a model and entrepreneur. She is a gifted stylist/teacher/tactician, and aims to help people look their best on a budget. You know those blogs that are featured in magazines and do the daily giveaways with like 30 million posts? Well she is on that road and you should check her out!!
Here’s a good example of her personal blog.
And here’s her style blog, which is overflowing with great ideas and fun diy projects.
P.S. Look at Bre and Barry’s amazing wedding photos taken by Benj Haisch.
The Kernal: IPA S.C.G.A.NS (7%)
What does the brewery say?
Very little – “Stella, Citra, Galaxy, Apollo, Nelson Sauvin. Bottled Conditioned.”
I imagine the lack of a description is intentional - they seem to be keen to let the beer speak for itself!
What do we say?
Every now and…
What? Another Kernal beer bottle?
well. I’m excited for Laura Gibson’s new album to come out. You can listen to it on NPR.org. I just found out about her yesterday and I’m so relieved to know she exists.
Here’s a link to the final song on the album “feather lungs” as sung by Gibson at a piano in some restaurant, I suppose.
